Cant Install XP Pro with new mobo Partition Issue

Hi, I just bought a AN8 Ultra w/4600 x2, BFG 6800PCIe
I deleted the old system partition and went to do a fresh install of XP Pro.
When I get to the screen where you create a parition, I get a message saying
that the disk does not contain a Windows XP compatable partition. They ask me
to delete the partition and try again. I've done this several times and I
never get the chance to format the partition. It's like the installer has me
going in circles. I'm installing to a ide drive (no SATA yet). SATA was
disabled in the BIOS
What struck me as odd was that I was able to boot to the old install (in
Safe mode only, prolly because some old 32 bit drivers still there).
SO I know that the drive is good, I can even see the other partitions and I
can boot with PE Commander cd and see all the partitions and data. I just
can't get to where I can install XP again because it won't let me.
Any ideas as to what I need to do in order to get my maching up and running?
Thanks,
Edison
**I tried formatting the partition then tried to install and I still have
the same problem. I tried installing to other partitions and another hd and
the issue remains the same.
I've run CHKDSK and all is well there. I tried creating a new partition
using Partition Magic and still can't install.

If all is set ok in BIOS and drives are set properly, boot to xp
cd,recovery,press
enter key for password, then type:DiskPart In DiskPart, delete the
partition(if one
exist).then/or create one,then press Esc key,then type:FORMAT C: /FS:ntfs
When its thru type:EXIT Reboot, reboot to xp cd,select, install xp.
