I suppose that you have tried:
- Using both of the CD/DVD players to install..
- Cleaning the CD..
- Different memory (RAM).. (or at least rearranging (using a different slot,
trying one stick if you have two, etc)

Tony...
you gotta slow down...learn some grammar....then present your situation in a
logical format...your just all over the place...I can why your in your

the situation isn't logical the system was working fine
until i installed the dvd burner i even burnt 3 dvd disc
and then i got an error message "error_384" and then i
couldn't even boot the system up i tried to do a recovery
but that didn't work so i tried to install windows again
and the i got the syntax error and then i started to
disconnect all the drives but the cd and the harddrive and
pulled the memory out and made sure it was in correctly.

Tony, i just spent 18 hrs trying to install xp and when I called Microsoft
they said copy the I386 folder to the hard drive and run the WINNT32 app and
it would run and it did. It seems when you use the installer it loads its
own generic driver for the CD-ROM drives and that is not always compatible
with the drives installed and it freezes. Try the manual install.
