can't install XP Home Upgrade! Help!?

Felicia

I'm getting "Fatal Error" when trying to upgrade from Win
98 SE to Win XP Home Edition. I try to get online support
from Microsoft, and the site asks for a Product ID. I
don't know where to find the Product ID, and when I click
on "Tell me how to find Product ID" it tells me how to
find it on my computer -- as if it were already installed.
So that's circular. Can anyone out there help me?
I wrote down the error #, it is: 5C9FF58h. If that means
anything to anyone I will be eternally grateful!
Thank you!

Hi, Felicia. I found a really good website that will walk
through the entire reinstallation process. It's called
windowsreinstall.com. It covers all kinds of issues
including upgrading from 98SE, and it gives you step-by-
step instructions (with pictures!), so you can get through
what you need. I believe the product ID key is found on
the Certificate of Authenticity sticker that you got with
XP (that you attach to your computer). I hope this helps
you. I'm sure the website at windowsreinstall.com will.
(It was a complete blessing to me a few weeks ago.) Good
luck!
