Can't Install W2K

I have a new 120 Gig ATA1-100 hard drive and I am able to install W2k as long
as I hook it into IDE1. However, the board is an ABIT BX-133 RAID and this
IDE slot only supports ATA33/66. When I start ythe computer, the hardware
detects the drive (master) and then boots to the CD. However, setup gives me
an error telling me that it cannot find any hard drives to install Windows. I
have tried hitting F6 on startup to install a SCSI or RAID driver, but I
don't have any such drivers to install.

Note that I have a 40 Gig ATA-100 slave drive with a Linux system installed
and uses the master drive to boot. This works fine as the drive is identified
as hdf1 (IDE3). Windows is installed here, but when I moved the drive to
IDE3, it can't see it since it is looking on IDE1 (where it was installed
originally). How can I get the setup to see IDE3?

You'll want to boot the Windows 2000 setup disks or CD-Rom. The set of four
install disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the
\bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or
makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

Then *F6* very early and very important (at setup is inspecting your system)
in the setup to prevent drive controller detection, and select S to specify
additional drivers. Then later you'll be prompted to insert the manufacturer
supplied Windows 2000 driver for your ATA controller in drive "A"

If you wait and then S to specify additional drivers, then it may be too
late as Windows 2000 Setup at this point may have already assigned the
resources your drive's controller is wanting to use.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.
