Cant install USB Wireless mouse receiver

Guest

When I plug in the receiver for my wireless mouse, windows does recognize it
but can't install it saying there was a fatal error.

In Device manager under the "human interface/USB Receiver Properties/ Device
Status" I get the message " This Device is not configured correctly (code 1)

I am using XP Home SP2

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi

Right click on my computer and manage then device manager then click on view
and "show hidden devices" see if there is anything there that may relate to
the mouse, if not remove the receiver and install the software first then
plug the receiver into another USB port also try plugging it into a usb port
that is in the rear of your pc not the front.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice.
I did as you asked and found a Yellow mark on the "parport."
In the Properties/Driver, its status is listed as stopped.
When I attempted to start it I received the following;
"The system encountered the following error while attempting to start the
service. It can't be started because its disabled or it has no enabled
devices associated with it."
Under Properties/general, it states the folowing;
"This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all
its drivers installed. (Code 24)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device." I tried
trouble shooter to no avail.

Under the "Details" tab the driver is listed as a "Device Instance Id" in
the dropdown window. In the main window it is "ROOT\LEGACY_PARPORT\000"

Sorry for the long post but I want to give as much info as I can to solve
this.
