Can't Install to 2nd Darive

I'm trying to install Vista Beta 2. When I select my Drive 1 as the selected
drive, the progam indicates that " Windows is unable to find a system volume
that meets its criteria for installation"

My Drive 0 is a 80gb SATA and my Drive 1 is a 40gb PATA. Both are formatted
NTFS and set as primary drives. Drive 0 is running XP Pro.

Any ideas? Thanks........

This touches upon some rather risky thinking with unkown consequences
that I was going through just a day or two ago.

And I don't know what will happen if anything.

But what if the C: drive were removed?

Maybe reformatted before introducing Vista - would Vista install then?

And perhaps worst of all, what would happen if the drive that was
removed were put back in again?

(It may be a good idea to try none of the above)

you must set just one drive primary not both
exemple drive with xp set primary and drive for vista secondary or
viseversa

Hi,

Like any version of Windows, Vista wants to put the boot files on the
primary, active partition. As it is a SATA drive, setup will not be able to
write to it unless you supply an appropriate SATA driver. Get this from the
drive manufacturer and load it at the point where you choose the
installation location.

Alternately, some boot managers, should you choose to use one, include a
function that allows you to fool setup into believing that it is installing
to the primary partition.
