Can't install SP1

Hi guys, I'm new here and I'm having a problem with my father's laptop (Sony
VAIO PCG-7Z1P). Every time it is started up appears a globe "There are new
updates to be installed" when I click it, Windows Update says Service Pack 1
is available to be installed, no more updates appears.

I let it install, after some minutes a ReStart Now windows appears, click in
it and until here everything looks fine BUT when computer boots appears a
screen that says something like: Package Installation failure, undo changes
or so. After some more time the computer ReStart again and the globe "There
are new updates to be installed" appears again.

I was wondering:

1° Why is not installing the SP1?
2° Is there any alternative metod to install it?
3° Any extra Idea/help

Thanks guys in advanced for your any comment. Regards;

Open Windows Update, open the View Update History, update the Windows
Vista Service Pack 1 update where it says failed after it, right click
on it then click view details. Tell us what it says there.
