Can't Install Sasser Update / Install stalls; doesn't complet

I've having trouble installing the Microsoft recommended
secruity update for Sasser. I've downloaded the update
to my laptop's desktop; but when I try to install it,
invariably, the install process just stops at some point
and doesn't complete. Any ideas how to get around this?
