Can't install program

I get a message near the end of installation:

"Error 1933
Windows Installer cannot update one or more protected
Windows files"

- when I try to install new programs using a cd. It then
asks for me to insert Windows XP disk, and I don't have
it since it was preinstalled on my PC when I bought it.

Any advice?

What are you logged in as?

Some users are not given rights to install.

Are you taking about installing XP itself or some other program?
