Can't Install Norton Internet Security 2003 on XP

I couldn't find an XP site for my problem, but perhaps someone here can help
me.

When I attempt to install Norton Internet Security 2003 on my computer using
windows xp, I get an error message: "Runtime Error! C:\Program
Files\Norton Security\IntroWiz.exe Abnormal Program termination" (In
addition, Norton Internet Security 2003 does not seem to install completely,
but it does finish)

When I checked Symantec's web site, I found a solution that requires that I
replace the file oleaut32.dll version 3.50.5014.0 with a new version
4.71.1015.0 So I downloaded the new version from the Windows web site. But
when I attempt to open the new version, it tells me the file will only open
with windows 98 and suggested I download the newest service pack for windows
nt. I don't have nt, but I did download and installed the newest service
pack for xp. But the version of oleaut32.dll remains 3.50.5014.0

What can I do to properly install Norton Internet Security 2003 on my
computer? I already have several viruses on my computer, and my computer is
not operating too well.

If your computer is already infected with viruses, it's a little late
in the game to try and install an antivirus program. You should
consider backing up your important documents, reformat the drive
and install Windows XP "clean". Afterward, visit the Windows
Update website, install the updates, then install Norton Internet
Security 2003.

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

1. Open your BIOS and set your CD Drive as the first bootable device.
2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete all the existing
partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP Home.
