Hi Guys,

I had a problem with my old laptop it basically died. Luckily I have backed
up all my emails to a remote back up server. I have downloaded the backup.pst
file from my remote server, when I have done this in the past I have just
imported the back up file and it has over written everything ok. However this
time when ever i try to import my back up all I get is the error message "You
don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation." I am the
computer administrator and I am running Windows XP Home edition with service
pack 2 installed. The backup.pst file will not move to a different folder nor
will it allow itself to be renamed???

HELP PLEASE......... I need my emails back. This is Outlook 2003 by the way.

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

Importing is never the correct method for transferring Outlook data.
You just open your backup file and use it.
How did you actually create and transport this file?

check if the pst that you are trying to access or import has read only
access, if so change the property and then try importing.

No NO NO! Importing is the fastest way to a corrupted pst file! Do NOT use
the import function when moving data from one Outlook to another. Just use
File-Open-Outlook Data File.....
