can't get windows working

My windows xp stop working i kept getting unmountable-boot and 0xED on a blue
screen so i downloaded the 6 boot disks etc..ok then it prompt me to insert
my home xp disk i did but next i was told to insert CD disk SP#1 did'nt have
one so i downloaded a disk well it stated could'nt find NTLDR files etc.. so
i downloaded that file from another PC with windows xp well when i try that
next it told me that <window root>\system32\hal.dll. is missing.

A. Go out and purchase a legal version of Windows XP
and perform a "repair install".
