Can't get through the 1st setup disk.

Marc

I have a Gateway 2000 with a 200 mhz pent with MMX, 96 meg of Mem, 6 gig
harddrive
I am trying to put Win 2k on it, but I can't even get through the first
disk.
It stops when it gets to the prompt "Setup is inspecting your computers
configuration".
The Bios are at the manufacturers latest recomended, The floppy works,
although I had to format the bios floppy in win 98 before it would work.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Marc

Is this a clean install? If so, sounds like your hardware is either not
compatible or might be faulty. You could remove all non-essential hardware
from the machine and then try the installation again to see if its a
component that is giving the problem.

Marc-
Just came across your message. If you haven't yet figured out another way,
try using different setup disks, or create new ones (unless the disks have
been successfully used elsewhere). I experienced a similar behavior a few
different times setting up NT 4.0. Turns out the setup disk was bad because
I was able to proceed with a different set of disks.
