Can't get the slide show to function?

I am operating with Windows 98 SE. I recently installed Powerpoint from
Microsoft Office XP Professional. The install went just fine, and I have
been able to create presentations. However, when I click on "view slide
show", nothing happens (except that on the toolbar at the bottom, it appears
as if another window has opened; however, when you click it, nothing opens or
appears). The only thing I can find in "help" relates to if the slide show
doesn't appear on a projector (which works just fine...I just can't get the
slide show to operate).

I have the exact same problem. It just started happening to me in the past
week. Have you figured out how to view the slide show. I am operating XP
Pro and Office XP. It has always worked, but now it does not. Let me know
if you have it solved.
