Can't get rid of annoying pdfmaker menu.

When I open normal.dot, it doesn't appear, only when I create a new document
or open an exising one.

I don't want to use it since it doesn't work nearly as well as the full
adobe application. Even though there are only 2 icons, it occupies its own
menu line, regardless of how I try to alter it.

You probably have an Add-In giving you this toolbar. Check under Tools =>
Templates and Add-Ins. (Com add-ins won't show up in this list but yours may
not be a com add-in.)

Remove the PDFMaker.dot add-in from Word's Startup folder.

Or from the *Office* startup folder.

Do note that by printing directly to Distiller, you lose some functionality
provided by the Adobe macros.
If you set Word to display the formatting and standard toolbars on separate
lines, there should be enough room for the Adobe toolbar at the end of the
upper toolbar - where it stays quite happily on my machines.

Thanks,

I just needed the row back. I can worry about why the macros aren't working
properly later. Thanks for the tip.
