Can't get program to start

Hi! :)

I like to play a space shooter game called Star Defender. When I go to
Start/Programs or Start/Run to open the game, it opens just fine. But when I
try to open it with an assigned hoykey on my keyboard or putting the command
line of c:\Program Files\Star Defender 4\StarDefender4.exe into Windows
Explorer, unlike most other files I try to open in those ways, I get this
error message

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: c:\Program
Files\Star Defender 4\StarDefender4.exe This application has requested the
runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications
support team for more information.

When I try it with a bookmark in my browser, I get this error message

Molebox Launcher Fatal Error. The dynamic link library 'BASS.dll' could not
be found

What can I do to fix this problem? I'd like to at least be able to open it
with a hotkey on my keyboard or if not that, a bookmark in my browser.

It's probably because the game can't find some necessary binaries in it's
own folder (which is poor programming, IMO). Take a look at the shortcut
properties in the Start Menu (right click shortcut and select PropertIes).
If there is a path in the the "Start In" field, you'll need to do the same
for the shortcut assigned to the hotkey on your keyboard.

Aw, shoot. My (Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard) doesn't have that
capability, but thanx anyway, at least I can send the part about "necessary
binaries" to the game's maker
