can't get my keyboard to work

Please help, my multimedia keyboard 1.0A wont work, i have a toshiba
satellite m 30 laptop and it does not have a keyboard outlet, so i have
purchased a usb adaptor. When i plug my keyboard in it comes on for a
second then goes off, i have updated the drivers, please help

Could be the adapter is broken, the keyboard is broken, or the port is
broken. Also PS2/USB adapters are not always passing all keystrokes. So
plug in a known working USB keyboard to see where the problem is.

Not all USB adapters work! You need to buy from a respected company. The
cheap one do not always provide the USB to PS/2 conversion completely.

Also check the net to find out if the keyboard, adapter, and USB socket
on your laptop are all the same speed. I don't care what they say about
USB 2.0 being backward-compatible to 1.1 and 1.0, some systems are just
touchy. Look at driverguide.com and see if there are additional drivers
you can load.

If you can borrow another setup from a friend, switch things around
until they work...we hope.
