Donna

I have a new laptop with Vista and I can not get the Vista mail program to
open (receive) mail that goes to my Outlook account.

As far as I know I never had a sign-in or password for my Outlook account.
I do have Windows Live ID and I even tried using that info.

This is the error message I get:

Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR login failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Any help will be VERY welcomed and appreciated.

Your account is with bellsouth, not outlook express
You need the details from bellsouth in order to set up the mail account in
Win Mail

It is not possible to have an email account without a password.
If you have forgotten your password, contact tech support at
Bellsouth.

Not sure what you mean by "Outlook account".
You can use either Outlook or Windows Mail (or both) to receive email from
your email account (Bellsouth).
Configure either or both to access the Bellsouth email servers.
If you wish for both programs to download the same email, then you have to
configure each to leave email on the server after downloading.
Any password request is for your email account on Bellsouth.
