I have a Win 2000 Pro client that won't open the login
dialog using cntl-alt-del after prolonged period logged
off. The user logs off in the evening and comes back in
in the morning and is unable to get the login dialog. It
works fine if I just log off, let the screen saver start,
and hit cntl-alt-del. It only happens after several
hours being logged off.

The clients operates in a domain with windows 2000 server.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Your screen saver might be corrupt. Turn it off and see what happens.

Turning of the screen saver seemed to fix the problem.
Now I will need to fix the screen saver if it is corrupt.
If this a matter of finding the files for the screen saver
and replacing them from a Win2k CD?

Thanks,
Todd

Use a different screen saver.
