Me

I had 2 viruses (goabot and lovesan) on my computer and
when I was trying to remove it another one came (blaster
variant I think) and now windows won't load.
I turn it on and the words appear offering me to start in
safe mode or proper mode. The clock ticks down and when
it gets to 0 it freezes. If I select safe and press enter
then a directory listing appears (in dos format) for
system 32 directory. then it stops and then nothing
happens. I've booted up using reset and actual power off
button but it doesn't change. I even boot up with windows
cd in drive but doesn't change.
What do I do now? Please help.

Since you cannot get XP to boot you have nothing to loose and mayber a
whole lot to gain by doing a Repair Install from the XP CD. You will
not loose any settings or installed programs. You will have to
reinstall any any updates you have made, though.

See here for how to do a repair install if you are not familiar with the
procedure. I have done several very successfully.

There are other sources for instructions how do it. That one is the
first I came across.

Good luck!

Format the drive and clean install Windows. Reinstall your programs from
cd's and restore data from backups.
