can't get audio into timeline

whenever i drag audio into the timeline, moviemaker crashes "Windows Movie
Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. "We are sorry for the
%$@*%# inconvenience." Any help would be nice.

The movie maker used to crash all the time for me.
I find if I save the project at regular intervals (like every 30sec or Min.)
it seems to crash less often
