cant get agp

I just got an amd system - 64 bit proc, k8v delux board. I am using an
older radeon 9700. I can not seem to get agp to show at 8x or 4x. In
fact, in smartgart it is showing disabled x0 even when I go into bios
and it says enabled 8x. I think I have the latest bios for the
board. I tried to find new drivers for mobo chipsets but could not
find anything recent at the amd site. Note that when I check
3dmark2003, it also shows 8x agp is available but x0 is selected.
3dmark also shows sideband addressing supported but disabled and the
same for fast write - that it is supported but disabled.

If you folks think this is just a question of updating drivers, can
you please point me in the right direction - where to find the proper
chipset drivers at amd or elsewhere for the k8v? Otherwise, any other
suggestions? I have probably gone through 50 different message
threads and 20 cycles of booting and rebooting after each minor
change. Thanks much for any assistance!

What a dope I am. Looks like I did screw up the driver install or
atleast it seems like I missed the chipset install. I was SURE I got
them all installed and from just a wee little bit of knowledge, I know
that drivers are just about always the first thing to check out when
having a problem like this. I guess that old carpentry rule applies
here as well... measure twice, cut once. Duh. Thanks for the
pointers to the correct drivers.
