can't follow directions to single-space my email sig line. Help!

The instructions from Office on how to delete extra spaces in email sig lines
is confusing. It says to "place insertion point after last character in a
line." What's an insertion point? This isn't working and is very frustrating.
Please help. Just want to single space my sig line.
