Can't find Operating System

When I start my computer I get the above message on a
black screen. Has any one any Ideas? Usually when I turn
the machine off and then back on a minute later it loads
OK. I had the hard drive checked out and it seems to be
OK.. Any help would be nice.

Change the boot order to hard drive first, then floppy or CD second.
Put a boot disk in the floppy or put the Windows XP Cd in the CD drive.
Start the computer.
Watch the hard drive light.

You could have a bad power supply, power cable, data cable, or a CMOS
battery getting weak.

Do the cooling fans always start?
Is the hard drive being detected during boot?
