Can't find Configuration Container

I'm trying to remove an exchange 2000 server from AD and article 278918 says
to locate the Configuration Container in the hierarchy tree. I cannot find
the Configuration Container on any of my servers using LDP but have no
problem getting to it using ADSI Edit.

The problem is I don't have the delete options with ADSI Edit that I do with
LDP.

Can someone shed some light on this and where to find the configuration
container in LDP?

the configuration container should be locatable from ldp by the following:

cn=configuration,dc=myrootdomain,dc=something,dc=com
