Can't find Access 2003 Developer Extensions

I want to become a professionnal of the Access DB and thus I want to buy
Access 2003 Developer Extensions. But it seems impossible for me to find
infos on it. And it's been 6 month I'm looking for ! So, could it be possible
to help me there ?

You need to purchase the following in order to create an Access 2003 runtime
application:

- Microsoft Access 2003
- Visual Studio Tools for Office 2003 (which includes the Access 2003
Developer Extensions)

The ADE is the product that gives you the license to deploy the 2003 runtime
components and you have to have Access 2003 installed in order to install
the ADE.

If you're using MSDN, note that while VSTO is available in all subscription
levels of MSDN, the Access Developer Extensions are not included with all
versions. ADE is only available at Universal level.

The stand-alone VSTO box includes both VSTO and the ADE.

Hi, Mallory.

You should have come here sooner! Six months ago you could have bought
Visual Studio 2003 Tools for Office (which contains the ADE) for about $300
cheaper than Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office, which is the current
version for Microsoft Office 2003 Professional. You may not be able to find
a copy of VSTO 2003 except on Ebay these days. Please see the following Web
page for purchase information for the latest version of VSTO:

As Doug previously posted, you'll need a copy of Microsoft Access 2003, or
Microsoft Office 2003 Professional. You'll also need a workstation that can
handle the .Net Framework 1.1, so Windows 98 and ME are out of the question,
but Windows 2000 SP-4 and newer can handle it.

To that, I would add that if you don't need ADE right now (or unless you
have to much money in your pocket) then you should wait for Access 2006 or
Office 2006 before committing yourself to pay for VSTO 2005.

Please also note that many Access professional don't use ADE.

The tools that are called the "developer's" extensions in earlier versions
of Access actually have nothing to do with development. They have to do
with distribution of the finished product. Everything you need to become a
"professional" developer is included in every version of MS Access.

I'm living in South Africa (read third world country) and also looking for
ADE. Partners of Microsoft in SA is pathetic and don't care about
individuals. Yes, I know about Visual Studio but cannot get hold of it. I
love to work with Access! Please help a desperate man!!

Hi Rex,

Not sure if this helps but I recently purchased Visual Studio Tools for
Office 2005 (which includes the Access 2003 Developer Extensions and
Run-time License) from

They are in Australia but do ship overseas. Found them to be very helpful
and efficient - price was OK was well.
