I recently upgraded from Windows 2k to Windows XP Pro. Everything's fine but
my audio. |At first I device read, "No device driver on computer" I followed
the device mgrs. instructions and now have VIA AC97 Audio Controller and the
sytatus reads, the device is working properly. Guess what? I still have no
sound. I've exhausted all my options. Somebody help me please!!! I'd hate to
have to take my tower to the shop. The audio was fine before the upgrade.

Yes, with built in sounds nad by running windows media player. I've
disconnected and reconnected the audio cable inside the tower also. I didn't
know there were other ways of testing the sound except what the
troubleshooter tells me to do.

Go into Sounds and Audio Devices Properties applet in the Control Panel
and make sure that that correct hardware is selected as the default device
for sound playback.

Also ...
You need to check the motherboard manufacturer's website and the chipset
(www.viaarena.com)
manufacturer's website for Windows XP compatible sound drivers.
