Can't erase contacts even though they aren't in contact list

I have all kinds of contacts that show up when I try to create a new e-mail.
They are not in my contact list or any other place. They are only from a
previous message I received or sent. I can't erase them and it is a real
pain.
Help How can I get rid of these?

WM remembers the last 29 entries typed in, eventually that one will drop
off the list.
