Can't e-mail merge

I have done it in the past but can't e-mail mail merge now. I use the mail
merge step-by-step wizard: selected current doc, selected the address book i
needed, did not use any message, previews message, selected electronic mail,
and on the last step (#6) this is where my problem is - i believe. It pops
ups and wants me to plug in the "To" address. The only options are "first"
or "last". if i select first it only sends those that don't have duplicated
first names,....i think i only want the e-mail address there, but i don't see
an option to put it in......can someone help? i just want to send it to
everyone in the selected address book. Thanks in advance for your help!

oh, and i can't type write in the "To" box... i believe some default must
have changed in word
