Can't disable my trackpad!

I have a Dell Latitude D600 laptop and I can't disable my bloody
trackpad! There is no option to disable the thing in the device manager
(it is listed as a ps/2 compatibe mouse). I went so far as to try to
uninstall it, but windows was kind enough to reinstall it by the time I
booted it back up, without asking. Any help would be appreciated!

Check your mouse properties in Control Panel. If there's a tab labeled
Synaptics, you should be able to disable it there. If no such tab, then you
are probably outta luck, like I am with my Gateway M280. (Damn those
Finepoint drivers!)

All trackpad equipped laptops should have a hardware button to disable it,
as my old HP Omnibook xe3 does. Sigh.
