Can't Delete User Account

I have an account on my Windows XP Media Center Edition machine I want
to delete. I launch the User Accounts control panel and follow all
the prompts. When I click the final button to delete (after the "are
you sure"s) the app just hangs, and eventually goes to "Not
Responding". I can create and delete other accounts just fine. But
this one existing account causes the User Accounts control panel to
hang when I try to delete it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I have a few ideas:
This is not a builtin windows account (like administrator or guest?)
If so, I would go with group policy to disable the account.

You are logged in as an administrator with appropriate rights to
delete accounts?

Restart the computer and retry the delete account operation. I know
that sometimes if an account has been logged in, certain things are
held open and account operations like profile copying can be
affected. I would imagine this could in some cases also affect your
ability to delete.

try using start menu > run > compmgmt.msc > system tools > local users
and groups > users - to list and manage this account.

try using start menu > run > compmgmt.msc > system tools > local users
and groups > users - to list and manage this account.

Worked like a charm. Thanks.
