Can't delete old sent items when upgrading from Outlook Xpress to

I've upgraded a machine in our office to Outlook 2003 and have set up to use
Outlook 2003 as default email. We previously had to use Outlook Xpress on
this machine b/c 2000 wouldn't work properly. Old Sent email has filled .pst
folder and I can't delete them.

What happens when you try to delete it?

We try to permanently delete items. We click yes to delete. Error message
pops up that says the file has reached its maximum size. To reduce amount of
data, permanently delete items....which is what we're trying to do.

Is your PST an ANSI (OL 97-2002) or a Unicode (OL 2003) PST? What is it's
size? What happens when you right-click the Deleted Items folder and choose
"Empty 'Deleted Items' folder"? Can you do anything if you compact your
PST?

It is an ANSI (OL 97-2002) file. I don't know how to find out its size.
When we right click the Deleted Items folder and choose "Empty 'Deleted
Items' folder" we get the same error. I don't know where to go or how to
compact the PST file.

When you use Windows Explorer to browse to it and display its properties,
how big is it?

I don't know where to go or how to compact the PST file.

Right-click its name in the folder list and choose Properties, then
Advanced. Click Compact Now.

Size is 1.97 GB, Compress contents to save disk space is checked, no option
to "compact now".

First you have to right click this particular file and delete it that should
make dissapear and make room for other things

I deleted the old .pst file & reinstalled Office 2000 & 2003 upgrade. Now I
have a duplicate copy of Personal files called Outlook. Both reference same
address in properties. Everything else seems to work O.K. Any idea how to
get rid of the duplicate?

You'll need to create a new mail profile, since the duplicate Personal
Folders both pointing to the same PST is a sign of a corrupt profile.
