Can't delete messages in Outlook 2000

Greetings!

This just started a short while ago… earlier in this same session, I
had read some email messages and deleted then successfully.

Then, without having closed Outlook, I read a new message and hit my
delete button… an error message popped up that said, "The Messaging
Interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists,
restart Outlook."

Well, not only have I restarted several times, but I have restarted my
computer and I'm still getting the error. I searched the Knowledge
Base, but I didn't find anything…

Any ideas?

I've had a similar problem. The first symptom was an inability to download
e-mail - I get an error message after each attempt, which says "Sending and
Receiving reported error (0x80040119)": Unknown error 0x80040119.

Thinking I might have too many messages in my inbox, I tried to delete a
few, and got "The message service has returned an unknown error. If the
problem persists, restart Outlook."

Attempts to drag and drop from the Inbox get "Can't move items" errors, as
do attempts to drag and drop into the Inbox.

Archiving fails when it comes to the inbox.

Scanpst reports no errors, and the size of Outlook.pst is only 172,713 KB.

It's as though the Inbox had been set Read-only.

HELP!!!
