can't delete files

I am using MD Word 2000. I am trying to delete some old word documents that I
no longer need and they seem to delete but a minute later reappear as a copy.
The more I try to delete them, the more they copy. For example, when I
delete "banking homework" it comes back as "copy(6) of copy of banking
homework", (I tried deleting it six times). Could this be a possible virus?
Any ideas on how I can get rid of it or fix this problem? Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
 
How are you deleting? One file at a time? If you press ctrl, select the files
and move, even slightly, the files will copy. If you use ctrl to select the
files, right-click, click delete.
