Can't delete emails, maximum size reached

Hi,

I'm having trouble deleting emails. When I try to delete Outlook 2003 tells
me that the maximum size has been reached and that I have to delete emails.
When I go to delete it won't let me. I've emptied my deleted items folder and
held down the shift button when deleting (which worked for the first few
emails then the error just came up again). I've also got the latest service
pack which was meant to get rid of the size limitation.

So is there anything else I can do to delete these emails?
