Can't delete an AddIn

Just installed Office Standard 2007 purchased off eBay.

In Excel, under the ribbon Add-Ins Tab, it shows two entries, strangely
enough in Italian, in a shaded box with Menue Commands printed at the
bottom.. I cannot remove these. These same two commands also appear in
PowerPoint, but in English. They also cannot be permanently removed. Fyi:
they are called 'Acquire Text' and 'Acquire Text Settings' (seems to
interface with a scanner).

In the Add-Ins tab, I right click on each and select "Delete Custom
Command". They dissapear but always come back the next time Excel (or
PowerPoint) starts up. Tried this in my WinXP Pro admin account and a user
account, same results.

Followed the help guide to remove add-ins but that didn't address these.

Appreciate being pointed to a solution. Thanks.

Hi Martin,

They (the add-ins) are probably self loading so you need to uninstall them:

Choose File (the Office button), Excel Options (at the bottom), Add-Ins. At
the top of this area you will see all the installed add-ins. Note the Type.
Then at the bottom of the window open the Manage drop down and pick the
appropriate type. From here it will depend on which type of Add-In your are
removing, but it should be clear. Let us know if you have problems here.

UPDATE !, Since the Add-In wouldn't delete by methods outlined and as per
Help, I uninstalled Office, cleaned the registry and re-installed. That
fixed the problem. No unknown add-ins are present.

Thanks,

Martin
