Can't delete address entries

Something has affected my IE address bar entries. I have
tried all known combinations to delete history, checked
and downloaded anti-virus and ad/spyware programs, yet
some remain. When entering a single letter, those
remaining sites appear as address selections. Any help
available? Thanks,
