Can't delete 180 MB .eps file

I have a large 180 MB .eps file on my desktop. When I try to delete, I get
message:
"Error Deleting File or Folder. It is being used by another person or
program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.
Restarting computer doesn't help." Suggestions?

EPS (Encapsulated PostScripts) files. You should be able to delete them
using the Safe Mode. Make sure that the files are not used by some
program/app which would make it inoperable.

I also have a large eps (315MB) on my desktop and a copy on the server which
I can't delete even in Safe Mode when I get the same Error Message as
reported by Mark. Any suggestions?

I have been shown how to delete this file now. By changing the application
with which the eps opens to Notepad from Adobe Illustrator it stops other
applications from trying to access the file. The file then deletes okay.
Apparently this is peculiar to XP.
