can't create outlook signature, advanced edit using notepad

I am trying to create an advanced edit of my signature but unable to pull up
a word document to add jpeg, perform hyperlink, etc.

When selecting advanced edit, I get a response, this will launch an editor
that is not part of microsoft (which is expected) however; it is pulling up a
notepad document instead of Microsoft Word which is needed to create the
advanced signature. NOTE: I have already selected Use Microsoft Office Word
2003 to edit email.

PLEASE HELP!

Had fun with this this week as well, was special picture I wanted to add, and
no matter what would not work.. Could not see the forest for the trees..
the long way I did it and may work for you was a save the picture (picture
only) in my pictures folder

Went to signature in word (without picture), copy and pasted it in outlook
to keep and preserve format (outlook sometimes quirks on the formats) and
sent as an email to myself, then I copied it to the signature file. (could
have pasted to signature as well directly, but I find copying from the
outlook preserves it better as I use HTML as my editor)

Then this is where I unfortunately missed the obvious for a Very long
time... Point your cursor to where you want to add the picture and right
click, you will "insert image" click and find the picture you want to add..
It will now be a part of your signature from here out..
Hope it helps

Thank you so much, that is exactly what I needed. Was a whole lot easier
then I was making it!
Blessings to you!

This seems like an interesting workaround but I am confused. I wonder if you
can run through it again in more detail-- for instance, "point your cursor
where you want to add the picture and right click." ..where are you, in
OL>...advanced edit, or just Edit? or are you somewhere else? I don't see
"insert image" on right click, where I am.
