I think I remember reading this somewhere:
xl97 had a hard coded memory limit (64Mb?? (for app plus
workbooks)) xl2k had a bigger limit, and XP and beyond
have no hard coded limit - they are limited only by the
hardware.
Home edition operating systems can also be poor, win2000
pro or XP pro are better than ME or Win98 at memory
management.
34 Megs is big but everything should still work fine
I use xl2003 on WinXP pro and have no probs with 20-30 Mb
files
