Can't connect WMP

My computer is connected to the internet, yet when I open
the Windows Media player it wont connect and the Media
Guide is just a black screen saying when you connect to
the internet you can use this feature,

have I got some setting wrong???? can spomeone tell me
how to get the WMP online???

In WMP click Tools/Options/Performance tab, make sure
Click to expand...
HTTP is checked/click Apply/OK
