Had a similar headache with a realtek 8180 chipset , said that the
capability of the network adaptor does not match the network requirements:

Turns out the native vista drivers don't support WPA !!!

Grabbed the XP drivers from the Realtek site & all was well in the world.

I just figured it out. You need to go into network and sharing and then into
manage wireless networks. Right click on your wireless network and then
properties. Then check where it says connect even if the network is not
broadcasting. It should work. It worked for me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the Realtek 8180 Extensible 802.11b Wireless Device
It works randomly for me. Sometimes I turn on my pc and it works fine and
other times it says its working, but cant detect any networks. I have my
laptop next to me which finds the connection full strength. Any ideas how to
make it more consitent with windows vista?

iv jus got a new laptop with vista. i connected it at my uncles wireless
network fine, but when i got it home and tried it it wouldnt work. my
brothers laptop works on in, his girlfriends does and even the old nackered
computer downstairs connects to it, but i seem to be the only 1 whos having
dificulty with it. i have full signal but it jus dosent want to connect.
apparently it dosent need any security passkeys or a WEP because my brother
hasn't set up the router with all that fancy stuff. he jus basically switches
on and connects. i have set up the network how he's done it.

please help becasuse its getting annoying!!!!!
