CAN'T CONNECT SONY DRX510UL TO WINDOWS XP

Can anyone give some help getting my new Sony DVD Recorder
to Windows XP?

Recorder causes my CyberPower to constantly reboot.

Can't get the computer to recognize the new hardware.

Am I missing some software I am not aware of?

My USB ports are 2.0, but error message says "not a
highspeed port"

Please help. Thank you, Chuck
 
a) Is this an external DVD burner?

b) Are you connecting via firewire or USB2.0

c) If USB 2.0, do you have XP SP1 and are the 2.0 drivers correctly
installed..... in the Device Manager, under USB Controllers do you see the
word "Enhanced"?

d) What is CyberPower?
