Can't Clear Internet Short Cuts

While browsing the Web, my system has froze up on me a few
times. Just recently, I realized that there are also some
sites that no matter how many times that I clear my
history cache, the sites still remain. I believe these
were sites that I was on while my system froze which
forced me to reboot. Any suggestions as to how I might be
able to permanently remove these site short cuts. What I
don't want is for the autocomplete to be pulling them up.
