Can't change the cell back to blank when there is a date in it.

Hi,

I have been having trouble with this for weeks!
I am making a new spreadsheet for work (I work at a college) I would like the cells to turn green, amber, red after 2 months, 4 months and 6 months of their start date. The start date is in cell D4 and I would like the cells to turn colour in F4:I4. Also I would like the cells to turn back to blank if a date has been entered in to the cell. Please help! running out of options tried so many formulas!!
