IE tells me that I can't access Internet Options from the Tools menu because
of administrative options on the computer. I am logged on as the
administrator in XP - using IE 6.0.

So I am the administrator.

Anyone have a clue what's going on?

Also - pdf files no longer are opening up in the browser window. I
downloaded a trial version of Acrobat Professional, and somehow got it
linked so that opening a pdf launched it instead of the plugin. How do I get
that back.

I tried to search Microsoft's support site, but the pages on it don't even
display correctly.

Should I just reinstall the whole thing. I can't even find THAT on
microsoft.com. It's very frustrating! All I can find are the service packs.

Help!

I am having the same problem with Internet Options. Only I have Window Me
and there is only the one profile. It would be most appreciated if anyone
can give us some help.

Mike,

I found the following post & did what it suggested for SpyBot. That fixed
my Internet Options problem. Hope this helps you too.

Thanks Alan for the post!

=============

Use Regedit.exe and search for NoBrowserOptions and remove it.
It is most likely to be here (but not necessarily)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions
If you are unfamiliar with Regedit, then ensure you know how to
restore your Registry in case of error and it is a good to export any
key before deleting.

Check the startup (Start-Run-MSCONFIG-Startup tab) for any unknown
items if it is reset on reboot.

You might try this snippet from Mike Burgess first if you use SpyBot:
'Did you by chance run SpyBot's Immunize feature?
If so, you can unlock by unchecking the option to "Protect IE Control
Panel" '

Close IE.
Open Regedit.
Find the value NoBrowserOptions and remove every instance of it.
