Can't cancel a print job

J

Jeff K

I am running Windows XP Pro. When I cancel a job in the
print queue, it accepts the cancel command, shows the
message "Deleting - Printing" for that job - and does
absolutely nothing!
The print job stays in that state forever or the next
reboot whichever comes first. I have even reinstalled the
printer's driver with no success.
How can I get rid of an XP print job without rebooting?

Stop the print spooler before trying the Delete.

From the command prompt, type

net stop spooler

(and hit enter)

Now try deleting the print job.

Remember to restart the spooler before you try to print again...

From the command prompt, type

net start spooler

(and remember to hit enter)
