can't attach a zipped file to an Outlook message

I can't attach a Winzip file to an Outlook message. Rather than the 'insert'
option when I go to select the zipped file I only get an 'open' option and I
can't attach the file.
Any ideas?

This is a long shot but do you have the option in Windows set to show
compressed files as folders? If you right click on the ZIP file in the
selection dialog can you choose the Select action as opposed to Open?
