Can't Add Record

When adding a sum calculated field from a linked form, or a query, to a form,
I lose the ability to add records to the table via the form. What should I be
doing to correct this?

Where are you at when you try to add the record?

What is the error message?
 
I don't get an error message. Once I return from inserting the calculated
field the add record symbol will not display on either the tool bar or the
record counter at the bottom of the form.
