Cant add partition

Hello, can someone explain this to me. Im kinda lost. I
have two hard drives. Both are Basic Disks one active and
one system and both as NTFS. Now the help section says
that I can right click on a drive and choose Create
Partition but I dont have that option. Is it possible to
create a partition on one of my drives without having to
reformat it and loose the data? Should I copy my second
drive to my first and then then reformat the second with
an extended partition? Well I hope someone can explain
this to me. Was there something that I should have
specified when I originally set up the drives that would
have enable me to be able to right click on one and choose
to create or delete a prtition??? Thanks a lot

Right-click "My Computer", click Manage

Under storage, choose Disk Management

NOW you can right-click your drive and Create a partition

What Mike said is correct, but you have hinted that you're afraid of
losing data - and haven't explained exactly where that data is or what
your current partition setup is. You should clarify all that, including
what partitions and what free space (if any) Disk Management now sees,
and what's on those partitions, before doing anything drastic.

For example: If one of your drives is C: and is just one big partition,
and the other is D: and is just one big partition, and you have the
system on one drive and apps and data on both, deleting either partition
would likely be disastrous. But there simple are ways around that.
